"Hibiya Riots" Civilian demanded more war against Russia ( Russo Japanese War civilian perspective ) Treaty of Portsmouth

The government & military knew it would be difficult to keep resisting the huge power of Russia, and needed America's help to end the war.
After Battle of Tsushima, it was the ideal timing.

In this postcard, Osaka Asahi Newspaper accuses the Treaty of Portsmouth & "Kokumin Shinbun "( People's Newspaper), which expressed they agreed with the treaty, by showing "even dead soldiers are crying".

Many citizens were disappointed by the Treaty of Portsmouth, which did not grant Japan any reparations.
Then,  the anger of people exploded causing so-called "the Hibiya riots".
The protest meeting participants turned into a mob burning out the official  residence of Minister of Home Affairs, Kokumin Shinbun which was regarded as  a pro-government newspaper company, police stations and so on.
